Qualifications
  • Current Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification (282 or 286) or eligible for and current CHRC/fingerprinting
  • Background in special education, knowledge of teaching behavior and specially designed instructional strategies
  • Use of multi-modality approaches and multiple models to support student needs effectively

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a team of educational technicians and related service providers
Job Summary
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Stives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administration regulation.
  • Responsible for supervision of educational technicians as it relates to student caseload.
  • Coordinate services across all agency lines and serve as a single point of contact.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the school‑based day treatment program, ensuring a therapeutic, trauma‑informed, and instructionally aligned environment.
  • Coordinate between educational staff, clinical providers, and outside agencies to maintain continuity of care.
  • Monitor student placements, transitions, and service delivery to ensure fidelity to IEP and treatment goals.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary team meetings to review student progress and problem‑solve programmatic issues.
  • Support data collection and analysis related to behavioral and academic outcomes.
Supervision and Staff Development
  • Supervise and evaluate Behavioral Health Professionals (BHPs), educational technicians, and support staff assigned to the program.
  • Ensure that BHP documentation, service logs, and billing records are accurate and compliant with state and Maine Care requirements.
  • Maintain Safety‑Care or equivalent crisis management certification and ensure staff are trained and credentialed appropriately.
Special Education Case Management
  • Serve as case manager for assigned students, ensuring timely and compliant completion of all IEP components in accordance with MUSER and IDEA.
  • Ensure the provision of Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE).
Compliance and Documentation
  • Maintain accurate and timely records including IEP documentation, behavioral data, and service logs.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable district policies, Maine DOE regulations, and Maine Care billing guidelines.
  • Implement data systems for progress monitoring of behavioral and academic interventions.
Family and Community Collaboration
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for families regarding program participation, progress, and concerns.
  • Facilitate family meetings to strengthen school‑home partnerships and encourage consistent behavioral supports.
  • Support transition planning for students moving between settings or exiting the program.
Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal/Director of Instructional Support and other administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment

Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings.

Physical and Mental Demands

Works in standard office and school building environments.

Terms of Employment

Hourly rate to be established by the Superintendent.

Evaluation

As applicable, based on hours worked.
