Our classroom ratios are small, we build strong relationships with students and families through a comprehensive educational clinical approach, embrace restorative justice practices, and include an experiential learning component. We offer 2/3 tuition for ongoing certification and professional growth for educators.

• Establish and adjust course outlines and objectives following curriculum guidelines and state and local school system goals, modifying plans based on student diagnostic and assessment procedures.
• Convey information to students using language concepts, examples, demonstrations, and teaching aids such as audiovisual equipment and computers.
• Implement Individual Education Plans, involving students in community and social programming, scheduling instructional activities, and following up on results.
• Assess student learning by preparing, administering, and scoring tests; reviewing and correcting assignments; eliciting student questions and responses; evaluating daily academic and behavioral progress.
• Maintain student learning results by providing instructional feedback; coaching, counseling, and disciplining students; planning, monitoring, and appraising learning results.
• Guide students’ personal and social development by establishing expectations and procedures for administrative matters, student verbal participation, and student movement within and between classrooms and on the playground.
• Support parents by providing academic information; suggesting available educational and social resources; addressing parents’ concerns, answering questions and requests.
• Maintain student behavior by providing appropriate supervision during both instructional and non‑instructional time.
• Contribute to school effectiveness by identifying short‑term and long‑range issues; providing commentary and recommending options; implementing directives.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary or Secondary Education or Special Education.

• Holds 282 certificate or eligible for conditional application according to Maine Department of Education.
• Maintain a valid state driver’s license.

• Teaching experience with special education population within a special education setting, self‑contained program, day treatment program, and resource room.
• Experience in teaching life skills and background that enables participation in the overall treatment program and to meet the emotional and developmental needs of the persons served.
• Persons with lived experience in the Mental Health, Trauma Based and/or Substance Abuse system are encouraged to apply.
