Job SummaryUnder the general direction of the Accounting Administrator I (AA I), the Senior Accounting Officer (Specialist) independently performs complex professional accounting duties via Uniform Codes Manual (UCM), State Administrative Manual (SAM), California Government Code, Financial Information System for California (FISCal) functionality, statewide month‑end and year‑end closing requirements, and accounting processes across multiple funds. The incumbent serves as a subject‑matter expert for reconciliation, expenditure tracking, encumbrance management, and FISCal transactional accuracy.
The incumbent analyzes and resolves complex accounting discrepancies; coordinates corrections with internal units and control agencies; prepares and reviews financial reports; ensures compliance with statewide accounting policies and the Prompt Payment Act; supports year‑end close activities; and provides technical guidance to program and accounting staff.
- Perform complex accounting duties across multiple funds and reconcile transactions.

- Support year‑end close activities and provide technical guidance to staff.
- Experience with the California FI$Cal System.
- Accounts Payable experience.

- Ability to update and create new procedures, prioritize, tasks, and meet deadlines.
