Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Associate Accounting Analyst performs professional accounting and Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) analysis work related to the Office Revolving Fund (ORF) and Travel Advance accounts. The incumbent independently utilizes FI$Cal and other financial systems to reconcile accounts, process warrants, monitor advances, research discrepancies, and ensure compliance with State Administrative Manual (SAM), Departmental policies, and applicable state and federal FI$Cal requirements.
The position provides backup accounting and travel support during emergency operations and participates in year-end financial reporting activities.

- Principles and practices of governmental accounting.
- State Administrative Manual (SAM) provisions related to revolving funds and travel.
- FI$Cal, CalATERS, and related financial systems.
- Internal controls, reconciliation processes, and financial reporting standards.
- Reconciling complex financial accounts and resolving discrepancies.
- Analyzing accounting data and preparing financial reports.
- Utilizing FI$Cal and other automated financial systems.
- Preparing clear and accurate accounting documentation and correspondence.
- Independently perform professional accounting work with minimal supervision.
- Interpret and apply state fiscal policies and procedures.
- Research accounting issues and implement corrective actions.
- Communicate accounting information effectively to staff and management.
- Prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Hybrid Telework:
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.
In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description.
Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
