Potential convert at $80-90k. Credit check must be ran. Looking for someone with big company accounting experience. Will be owning all accounting and reporting for onsite clinics. Must have excel experience. Plus to have an understanding of inventory, retail and SAP.
Job SummaryThe Senior Accountant performs complex professional accounting work involving the recording, analysis, and reporting of financial transactions. This role is responsible for preparing financial statements, regulatory filings, and detailed financial analyses while ensuring compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting standards. The position works closely with auditors and business partners and provides oversight and guidance to accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities- Perform complex accounting functions related to the recording and reporting of financial transactions
- Prepare financial statements, internal reports, insurance department filings, and other regulatory submissions
- Ensure timely and accurate posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger for assigned entities
- Prepare work papers, financial schedules, and audit support documentation
- Research and analyze financial variances by comparing current results to prior year, prior periods, and budgeted amounts
- Coordinate with independent auditors and insurance department auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements
- Prepare quarterly and annual insurance department statements, including conversion from GAAP accounting to statutory accounting
- Recommend improvements and enhancements to accounting systems, processes, and procedures
- Support business partners with budgeting activities, expenditure coding, documentation preparation, and other accounting-related needs
- Review work completed by bookkeepers, bank reconcilers, and accounts payable staff to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Assist in training and mentoring technical and clerical accounting personnel
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment in performing job responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 4+ years of accounting experience, including experience in a lead, review, or training capacity
- 4+ years of experience applying accounting and auditing principles, including GAAP and statutory accounting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with spreadsheet applications (e.g., Excel)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Clean credit history as reported by a credit report
- Experience working in regulated or insurance-related environments
- Prior interaction with internal and external auditors
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
