Overview

Research Advisory Services Unit Chief (Hybrid) at the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). This role is within the Data Analytics Division (DAD), Data Science Branch (DSB), Research Advisory Services Section (RASS). The unit serves as the branch lead for urgent, high profile research requests, confirms business requirements, supports audit requests, conducts bill analysis, and contributes to the development and implementation of research/evaluation methodologies, measure specifications, performance metrics, and data governance related to health services research.

• Supervise and operate the Research Advisory Services Unit (RASU) as part of the Data Science Branch (DSB).
• Lead urgent, high profile research requests; confirm business requirements; support CMS/OIG audit requests; conduct bill analysis.
• Contribute to development and implementation of research/evaluation methodologies, measure specifications, and calculation of performance metrics.
• Apply data management and governance processes to health services research projects.

• Experience with Medicaid claims and eligibility data systems.
• Knowledge of state and federal legislative requirements related to oversight and compliance.
• Experience with research, analysis, data management, and visualization of quantitative data.
• Experience supervising a research team.
• Experience with analytic software such as SAS, SQL, R Script, Python, and ArcGIS.
• Ability to design and implement health services research and data strategies.
