With a current student population of approximately 30,000, Sacramento State is one of the larger campuses in the 23‑campus California State University system, the largest system of higher education in the nation. The Athletic Department at Sacramento State supports 21 NCAA Division I athletic teams and includes over 450 student athletes competing in the Big Sky, Big West, and the Western Athletic Conference.
