Construction Laborer - Grade & Pave

The Construction Laborer – Grade and Pave will perform physical labor tasks at building, highway, and heavy construction projects, including tunnel and shaft excavation and demotion sites. Tasks may involve operating hand and power tools such as air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying, and measuring equipment, among others. Responsibilities also include site cleaning and preparation, trench digging, setting braces, erecting scaffolding, rubble removal, and hazardous waste handling.

• Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete and pavement
• Signal equipment operators for machinery alignment and movement
• Tend pumps, compressors, and generators for power supply and material movement
• Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery and tools
• Ensure site safety by cleaning and preparing construction sites
• Control traffic near work zones
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and level earth to grade specifications
• Load, unload, and distribute building materials, machinery, and tools
• Measure and mark for construction layout
• Assist other craft workers
• Lift objects up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities like climbing, kneeling, and standing for long periods
• Operate machinery and monitor environmental conditions for safety
• Maintain a safety-first culture and participate in safety programs

High School Diploma or GED preferred. Basic understanding of English for safety and duties. Basic math skills. Ability to follow simple instructions and work in a team environment. No specific certifications required.

$35-40 per hour, based on skills, experience, and knowledge.
