Responsible for providing didactic, pre‑clinical periodontal content and supervising pre‑clinical student learning experiences in the discipline. Pacific faculty engage in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Responsibilities- Didactic instruction involving periodontal pre‑clinical content.
- Provide simulation exercises to support the pre‑clinical courses.
- Participate in outcomes assessment, including student and peer evaluation, to improve curricular content and presentation.
- Engage broadly in other school, university, professional, and community service opportunities.
- Maintain a culture of humanism and collaboration.
- Some travel to San Francisco may be required for calibration, faculty development, or other needs as determined by the Department chair.
- Knowledge of comprehensive periodontal examination requirements.
- Knowledge of universal and area‑specific instrumentation of teeth.
- Knowledge of pre‑clinical teaching methodology.
- Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program.
- Active RDH license.
- Valid CPR certification.
- Communicate effectively with a diverse population of patients, students, staff, faculty and administration.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Work effectively in a group setting.
- Reflect, self‑assess, and think critically.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Demonstrate professional judgment in all situations.
- Previous teaching or practice experience is preferred.
- Minimum of one year practice experience preferred.

- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
- Faculty should have sufficient motor function to execute movements essential to teaching and demonstration.
- Must be able to operate controls, use high‑speed or low‑speed dental handpieces for tooth preparation procedures, and use hand instrumentation including scalpels for surgical procedures.
$30 per hour. Compensation may vary based on scope, responsibilities, qualifications, internal equity, market and organizational considerations.
