ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (CLINICAL X SERIES) - FELLOWSHIP-TRAINED RECONSTRUCTIVE UROLOGIST

The Department of Urologic Surgery at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting for a full-time faculty member in the Professor of Clinical X series at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank in Reconstructive Urology. This is for a fellowship-trained Reconstructive Urologist in either Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS)/Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS) and/or Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgery (GURS).

Faculty in the Clinical X series are expected to engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service.

Expectations

The successful candidate will have strong clinical and surgical skills specializing in reconstructive urology with fellowship training in either Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS)/Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS) and/or Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgery (GURS). The candidate should have extensive hands‑on experience in both open and robotic surgical techniques, as well as managing patient populations with diverse conditions including neurogenic bladder, cancer survivorship, and trauma‑related issues.

The practice will focus on complex urologic reconstruction and trauma, with robust support for clinical, academic, and research endeavors.

It is expected that the candidate will provide expert clinical care in male and female genitourinary reconstruction, urethral stricture disease, urinary diversion, trauma, incontinence, prosthetic surgery, pelvic floor disorders, and neurogenic bladder with an opportunity for development for gender‑affirming surgery. Participation in multidisciplinary care teams and collaboration across specialties will be required.

The candidate will provide teaching, mentorship and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows. The candidate is also expected to engage in clinical or translational research with opportunities for protected research time. It is expected that the candidate will contribute to the academic mission of the department through scholarly activities and participation in educational conferences. Participation in appropriate professional societies and education organizations is expected along with providing service to the department and school committees.

Participating in call coverage and general urology duties are also expected.

The incumbent must foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment that fosters team science and multi‑disciplinary patient care, adhere to University policies and procedures and be sensitive to the needs of patients from diverse backgrounds.

This recruitment is conducted at the assistant/associate rank. The resulting hire will be at the assistant/associate rank, regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications.
