Gynecologist Role Overview:Perform a wide range of tests, including pap smears, pelvic exams, cancer screenings, and breast exams. Diagnose and prescribe treatments for disorders and diseases; diagnose and treat reproductive system disorders such as endometriosis, infertility, ovarian cysts, and pelvic pain; educate patients about disease prevention, detection, and reproductive health; stay up-to-date with current practices and innovations; cover ER call per service agreement;
document all medical information in an electronic medical record; and perform other duties as assigned.
Veteran-Centered Care:
- Deliver comprehensive gynecological services with an emphasis on health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education, and management of gynecologic conditions.
- Promote shared decision-making with veterans and their families to achieve optimal health outcomes.
- Perform gynecologic surgeries, including minimally invasive procedures, hysterectomies, and laparoscopy.
- Manage preoperative and postoperative care for gynecologic patients.
- Conduct outpatient gynecology clinics and provide inpatient consultations as needed.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement projects to enhance the delivery of care.
- Utilize various quality measurement tools to monitor and improve clinical performance and patient outcomes.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for other healthcare providers within the gynecology team.
- Engage in educational activities, providing guidance and support to residents, students, and other trainees.
- Coordinate care for veterans involving specialty care, mental health services, and other ancillary services to ensure comprehensive healthcare delivery.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers to develop individualized treatment plans for veterans.
- Utilize the VA's electronic medical record system for documentation, ordering of tests, and communication with patients and healthcare team members.
