Job SummaryThe Art Teacher provides a high‑quality, personalized education program in general children’s art. The role supports Aspire’s mission by fostering a culture of high expectations, supporting college readiness, and promoting values of Bienestar, Culture of Belonging, Community Partnership, Agency & Self‑Determination, and Joy.
Essential Functions- Establish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief that every student will attend college.
- Develop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities aligned with California State Standards and Aspire Instructional Guidelines.
- Assess students regularly and analyze student results; refine and differentiate instruction based on assessment data and student needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices throughout the school; share best practices.
- Communicate regularly with students and their families about classroom activities and student progress.
- Involve parents and guardians as partners in their students’ education.
- Manage student behavior to ensure every student is fully engaged.
- Actively participate in professional development activities, and work closely with lead teachers, principal, and instructional coaches.
- Maintain accurate student records including attendance.
- Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and support Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, values, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and support the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
- Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles.
- Knowledge of subject matter, including California State Standards and subject‑specific frameworks.
- Knowledge of assessments.
- Ability and willingness to implement Aspire Instructional Guidelines and best practices.
- Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data.
- Ability and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and community.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Certification- Single subject:
Art authorization required. - English learner authorization required.
At least one school year of successful service in a certificated position.
Physical Requirements- Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull.
- Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height.
- Repetitive use of hands (e.g., fine manipulation, simple grasping, power grasping).
- Demonstrate normal depth perception.
- Sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, standard office equipment, and telephone.
- See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids.
- Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aids.
- Clear DOJ background screening.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Provide TB clearance (must be renewed every four years).
Aspire publicly states that compensation is competitive against local districts and charter schools. Salary is based on years of experience and follows the Aspire Public Schools Teacher Salary Scale.
