Job SummaryThe Elementary Teacher delivers high‑quality instruction in a small school environment where every student is known and valued as an individual. The role serves students in grades K‑5, upholds the mission and values of Aspire, and contributes to the goal that every student in California has access to high‑quality public education.
Essential Functions- Establish a culture of high expectations and shared belief that every student will attend college.
- Develop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities aligned with California State Standards and Aspire Instructional Guidelines.
- Assess students regularly, analyze data, and refine instruction based on assessment results and student needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices; share best practices.
- Communicate regularly with students and their families about classroom activities and progress.
- Involve parents and guardians as partners in their students’ education.
- Manage student behavior to ensure full engagement.
- Actively participate in professional development and work closely with lead teachers, principal, and instructional coaches.
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance.
- Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to address them.
- Support Aspire’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
- Knowledge of child cognitive development and diverse learning styles.
- Knowledge of subject matter, California State Standards, and subject‑specific frameworks.
- Knowledge of assessments.
- Ability and willingness to implement Aspire Instructional Guidelines and best practices.
- Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data.
- Ability to reflect and improve instructional practices.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community partners.
- Computer and Internet search skills.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential required.
- English Language Learner Authorization required.
- 1+ year experience working with students (teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant) preferred.
- Move self in various positions to accomplish tasks in different environments.
- Remain stationary, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Move about to accomplish tasks or move between work sites.
- Assess accuracy and thoroughness of assigned work.
- Communicate with others to exchange information.
- Repeat motions involving wrists, hands, or fingers.
- Clear Department of Justice background screening.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Provide TB clearance, usually updated every four years.
