Position Overview
The English Department at California State University, Sacramento is seeking part‑time lecturers for the Lecturer Pool - English. Successful candidates will teach introductory‑level lecture classes in Composition, Composition for Multilingual Writers, Professional/Technical Writing, Advanced Composition, Linguistics, and Children’s Literature.
Position DetailsPart‑time lecturers receive conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Initial appointments are typically one semester, with the possibility of renewed assignment based on department needs, funding, and performance. Assigned course dates, times, and modality are determined by the Department Chair in coordination with the College Dean.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned courses and prepare lecture materials.
- Grading, providing feedback, and maintaining attendance records.
- Holding office hours to support student learning.
- Contributing to course design and assessment as requested by the department.
- Required: Master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition or a related field, OR a Bachelor’s degree plus at least five years of teaching or relevant professional experience.
- Preferred: Prior college‑level teaching experience.
