POSITION TITLE: Lecturer Pool - Music
POSITION DETAILS: The School of Music at Sacramento State offers the rigorous study more commonly associated with prestigious conservatories, alongside an outstanding liberal arts education. We offer the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music;
Bachelor of Music degrees in seven concentrations (Instrumental, Keyboard, Voice, Theory/Composition, Music Education, Jazz Studies, and Jazz Education); the Master of Music degree in conducting, composition, or performance concentrations; the Minor in Music; and the Performer’s Certificate. With all of its degree programs fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, Sacramento State School of Music has developed a regional and national reputation for the high quality of its faculty and the superior achievements of its students and performing ensembles.

- Instruction, class preparation, grading, Canvas course management, and office hours for part‑time lecturer courses.
- Other duties as assigned based on departmental needs.
- Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are set by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean.
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
- Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211
Salary ranges are based on a "full‑time rate" (15 weighted teaching units [WTUs]). A semester’s worth of compensation is made up of six (6) payments of the given amount. Compensation is pro‑rated based on units worked out of 15 WTUs.
Required Qualifications- Master’s Degree in the discipline or Bachelor’s Degree with more than five years of relevant professional experience.

- College‑level teaching experience

Out of State EmploymentAll faculty who begin initial employment (or return from a 12‑month break in service) on or after January 1, 2022 are required to perform work from within the State of California. Faculty hired prior to that date must be available to perform in‑state work if the assignment is in‑person.
