Structural Designer (3-5 years)
Rutherford + Chekene (R+C) is a leading engineering practice in California, committed to hands‑on client service and a welcoming in‑office culture. We are actively seeking a structural designer with 3 to 5 years of experience to engineer a wide range of tenant improvement (TI) projects for high‑profile tech companies, labs, hospitals, and universities.
Responsibilities- Design supports for architectural features and components
- Metal stud framing design
- Seismic anchorage and bracing of equipment, MEP distribution systems, and nonstructural components
- Structural evaluation and retrofit design for TI projects
- Extensive coordination and interaction with a variety of clients
Required
- Master’s degree (preferred) or 5‑year Architectural Engineering degree
- Strong background in seismic design of nonstructural components per ASCE Chapter 13 and HCAI CBC Chapter A
- 3 to 5 years of professional engineering experience
- Excellent verbal and written skills
Desired
- Solid analytical and detailing skills
- Proficiency with 3D modeling programs such as Revit, AutoCAD 3D, and Navisworks
- Experience in construction administration
- Familiarity with OPDs and OSPs for HCAI projects
- Professional registration (a plus)
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000 before any eligible bonuses. Salaries are determined based on geographic location and qualifications.
