Cell Design Engineer Required - Northern California
Our client is an innovative battery cell manufacturer developing the next generation of lithium-ion technologies. They’re expanding their engineering team and are looking for a Cell Design Engineer to take a lead role in advancing new cell concepts and improving existing designs.
In this position, you’ll work at the heart of their R&D efforts, owning key elements of cell design and contributing to decisions that will shape future products.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced Li‑ion cell technologies.
- Work closely with teams across materials, chemistry, and manufacturing to progress new ideas into practical solutions.
- Plan and execute testing programs, analyse performance data, and address design challenges.
- Support and mentor engineers, helping to strengthen technical capability across the group.
- Establish and refine best practices for cell design and assembly processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within cell engineering.
- PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
- Practical experience designing and developing custom lithium‑ion cells.
- Deep knowledge of battery materials, chemistry, and manufacturing methods.
- Ability to diagnose complex technical issues and propose workable solutions.
- Clear, confident communication skills and ease working with cross‑functional teams.

Additional Information- Role requires you to be onsite in Northern California.
