Salary: $11,437.00 - $14,315.00 per Month.

Job Description:

Under the direction of a Supervising Bridge Engineer (Office Chief, Structure Office Engineer), the incumbent is responsible for research and development of structure specifications for the construction of bridges, retaining walls and other transportation‑related structures.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Eligibility determined by score on the Senior Bridge Engineer exam.
  • Must be on the state examination list if not currently eligible (transfer, reinstatement, LEAP, SROA, Surplus, training, etc.).
  • Minimum qualifications verified prior to interview.
  • Required documents:
    State Examination/Employment Application STD 678, optionally resume, SOQ, transcripts, and certifications.
Special Requirements
  • Valid certification of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
  • Valid driver’s license required when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle.
Statement of Qualifications (SOQ)
  • Describe your experience developing, modifying, interpreting, or reviewing structure‑related contract specifications, including Standard Specifications, Standard Special Provisions, and nonstandard Special Provisions.
  • Explain your experience applying structural construction practices, bridge engineering principles, or design requirements in a professional engineering setting.
  • Provide examples demonstrating your experience leading or coordinating the work of engineers or technical staff, mentoring others, setting priorities, organizing workloads, or providing technical guidance.
  • Describe situations in which you prepared a technical document (specification, report, memo, guidance) or communicated complex technical information to internal or external partners.
