BASIC PURPOSE/SCOPE

This role can sit in the following locations:
San Francisco CA, Sacramento CA, or Denver CO. This position provides financial support to regional bakery operations (multiple facilities) bringing visibility to plant operating performance, ensuring the accuracy of business results and providing insights that drive key performance measures. The role functions as a business partner and analytical/financial resource to the region manufacturing and financial leadership and all levels of bakery management. Key analytics include performance management, forecasting and project analysis.

The position is also responsible for maintaining the control environment ensuring the integrity of key processes and proper management of assets.

The Senior Financial Manager will have financial/accounting responsibility for 7 bakeries located in California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington and will manage 4 direct reports.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Partner with all levels of plant management to gather, analyze and/or prepare financial reports, forecasts and similar ad-hoc analysis.
  • Oversee operational spending, fixed asset transactions and proper inventory measurement to ensure proper accounting for period activity.
  • Responsible for the development of operational budgets, updating financial forecasts and identifying key drivers of performance.
  • Manage and contribute to the post-closing operational analysis to identify/evaluate variances and provide narratives on those variances. This includes EVA (variation analysis) reporting, departmental reviews, tracking to budgets and capturing revisions to key programs.
  • Partner with management to continually improve the total cost structure of the bakery operations which include initiatives such as continuous improvement and waste elimination/productivity.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and lead projects that successfully improve processes.
  • Support the development of capital investments including business justification & financial impact. This includes proper accounting treatment and post-completion audit.
  • Provide financial leadership in support of all strategic and business analysis.
  • Participate in plant leadership meetings and strategy sessions by using financial information to point toward opportunities and lend clarity to purpose.
  • Issue and review bakery KPI’s with Bakery management with the goal of identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to all financial and key business process controls and procedures and will be the lead contact/coordinator for all audit activities.
  • Lead and coordinate bakery operations reviews and reporting.
