Salary ranges by Grade:
Grade A: $4,418.00 – $6,035.00
Grade B: $5,370.00 – $7,350.00
Grade C: $6,796.00 – $9,321.00
New-to-state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Job Description and Duties
Do you have a desire to use your scientific, analytical, and technical skills to solve complex problems to protect the public from dangers associated with old landfills throughout the State? Do you enjoy working in a collaborative and dynamic environment? Cal Recycle is seeking an enthusiastic Environmental Scientist to join our Closed, Illegal and Abandoned Sites Section team. The Closed, Illegal and Abandoned Sites Section is responsible for providing technical and regulatory assistance to Local Enforcement Agencies and other Cal Recycle programs on the inspection, investigation, enforcement, and remediation of closed legacy, illegal, and abandoned solid waste disposal sites throughout the State.
The Section reviews technical reports and work plans, conducts desktop and field investigations, prepares guidance documents, and provides on‑site and virtual training. More information about the job is included in the Duty Statement.
