The Industrial Strategies Division is seeking a first‑level supervisor (Air Resources Supervisor I) for the newly established Carbon Management Branch. The position supports California’s carbon neutrality goals (AB 1279) by focusing on nature‑based carbon dioxide removal (CDR) strategies. The ARS I will lead staff responsible for:
Responsibilities- Developing carbon targets for natural and working lands.
- Tracking land‑management actions toward these targets.
- Overseeing staff conducting carbon sequestration and GHG modeling of natural and working landscapes.
- Identifying improvements to existing natural and working lands models and creating advanced models.
- Providing information on carbon sequestration, GHG benefits, and ecosystem benefits of nature‑based solutions.
- Collaborating with CARB, the AB 1757 advisory committee, and other agencies to expand climate‑smart land‑management policies.
Minimum qualifications are detailed in the Class Specification (Air Resources Supervisor I). Experience and education must be listed on STD 678.
