Saint John’s Program for Real Change mission is to provide a safe space for women and children to heal and develop the skills necessary to transform their lives. We accomplish our mission by holding to our vision to end the generational cycle of trauma and homelessness.

We operate the largest residential program for formerly homeless women and children in the Sacramento region providing services 24 hours/day, 365 days/year, offering shelter, meals, childcare, and comprehensive support services, including Behavioral Health Services, Hands-on Employment Training, Career Education, and Family Services.

Position Overview

TITLE Family Support Specialist

SALARY From $60,000 To $72,000 Annually

CLASSIFICATION Full-Time, Exempt

LOCATION On Site Only – Jackson Rd. Sacramento, CA

SCHEDULE Monday - Friday (May include nights/weekends), 9:00 am to 5:30 pm

About the Position…

The Family Support Specialist will provide essential mental health services to homeless women and children in need of reunification and additional family stabilization services. This position requires a client-driven approach, focusing on the evidenced-based Family Centered Treatment (FCT) model to support families in need of reunification and strengthening familial bonds. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of homeless women and children, supporting them in their journey towards family reunification and improved mental health.

You’ll

be responsible for…
  • Implement evidence-based mental health interventions for homeless women and children in need of reunification and familial supports. Interventions can be delivered at transitional home, with extended family and community.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to address trauma, mental health issues, and family dynamics.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each family's needs.
  • Conduct assessments, screenings, and evaluations to identify mental health concerns and support reunification and family goals.
  • Engage with community resources and stakeholders to enhance support networks for families in the program.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress and treatment outcomes.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
You must have...
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience with experience working in child welfare or family services settings.
  • Fluent in English language (spoken and written)
  • Proficient knowledge of email, copiers, fax, and internet
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
