Position Overview
Job Title: Junior Specialist – Division of Cardiovascular Medicine
Salary Range:
For Exempt: $55,000 at step 1 or $58,600 at step 2.
For Non‑Exempt: $26.35 per hour at step 1 or $28.07 per hour at step 2.

- Collaborate directly with personnel involved in research on mammography, cardiac prevention, hypertension, and rehabilitation under the direction of Dr. Javier Lopez.
- Investigate cardiac risk and the development and progression of hypertension, focusing on prevention and social determinants of health in disadvantaged populations.
- Assist in analyzing retrospective patient data from UC Davis electronic health records, emphasizing demographic data, epidemiology, biostatistics, and coding.
- Contribute to community‑engaged research in partnership with the Center for Reducing Health Disparities.
- Support data analysis efforts involving UC Davis and community partner records, focusing on health outcomes.
- Review research proposals, journal manuscripts, and publications relevant to this subspecialty.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and decision‑making skills, working independently and collaboratively.
- Contribute to both the cardiac rehabilitation team and the Center for Reducing Health Disparities.
Performance Evaluation: Published work, co‑authorship, evidence of contribution to publishable research, dissemination of findings, invitations to review grants or serve on panels, etc.
Professional Activities- Participate in professional/technical societies, educational and research organizations.
- Review research proposals, journal manuscripts, and publications in area of expertise.
- Maintain liaison with industry organizations, state and federal agencies, and external groups related to area of expertise.
- Participate in university committees and activities as appropriate.
- Required: Strong interpersonal, communication, and decision‑making skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Additional: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; ability to review research proposals and journal manuscripts.
- Preferred: Experience analyzing retrospective patient data from electronic health records, including epidemiology, biostatistics, and coding.
