Job SummaryThis position is responsible for Mammography exams, interventional procedures and data input into the Mammography Data Base (MQSA). Work routines are guided by established procedures and protocols; quality of work performed is approved or reviewed by the Lead mammography technologist, quality control technologist, Supervisor or appropriate radiologist. The incumbent operates various types of Mammography equipment to provide diagnostic images for interpretation by a radiologist and maintains equipment according to manufacturer’s operation manual.
The technologist must comply with department protocols, UCDH Policies, Department of Radiology Policies and additional regulations. All duties are performed calmly in stressful situations and in a cooperative manner with radiologists, clinicians and peers. The position may perform duties in the Main Hospital, Ambulatory Care Center, and/or satellite facilities as necessary.
- 85% – General Mammography Technologist Duties
- 15% – General Department Functions and additional Mammography Technologist Duties
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Mammography Certificate
- Valid CRT (M) CA Mammography State Certificate
- Applicant must be up to date on State requirements for Mammography Performance.
- Digital 8 hour 2D and 3D certificate
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
- General understanding of basic Mammography imaging, knowledge of Radiology equipment, supplies, and drugs.
- Proficiency in operating radiographic and auxiliary equipment to produce a quality product.
- Physical ability to perform all functions of a mammography technologist.
- Ability to organize workload by priority to produce sufficient volume of work in a timely manner.
- Responsible and dependable: attendance, punctuality, positive attitude, proactive duties such as linen, supplies, cleanliness.
- Proper body mechanics when lifting and transporting patients and moving equipment.
- Assist patients with limited mobility or special needs.
- Flexibility to assist mammography services at various locations.
- Ability to maneuver portable radiology equipment in tight spaces.
- Work across hospital and satellite locations if needed.
- Knowledge of health system policies and procedures.
- Effective communication of instructions.
- Professional, friendly rapport with department personnel.
- Cooperative teamwork and interdepartmental communications.
- Proficient use of health system electronic resources, maintaining patient privacy and HIPAA.
- Strong patient care knowledge, communication skills, and interpersonal skills.

- Discretion to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Flexible schedule changes as needed.
