Alcohol, Drug and Abuse Services (AOD) & Substance Disorder Counselor (SUD)

Location: FAIR OAKS, CA

Center Point is seeking AOD/SUD-certified and experienced substance use disorder counselors to join our Residential Treatment Program in Fair Oaks, CA. Counselors will be responsible for conducting screenings and assessments, providing individual and group counseling, developing and implementing treatment plans, and maintaining client records in compliance with regulatory agencies and funder requirements. Additional responsibilities include facilitating relapse prevention and continuing care services, offering follow-up and aftercare counseling, and providing case management in both residential and outpatient settings.

Candidates must be registered or certified by a State of California Accredited Institution. The position requires flexibility, as schedules may include weekends and evenings, with openings available for day, evening, and night shifts.

• Provide counseling and treatment services to individuals experiencing substance use challenges in a supportive and structured environment.
• Manage an assigned caseload of clients, ensuring accurate documentation of intake assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, billing, and discharge records in compliance with program and regulatory standards.
• Offer training and mentorship to registered counselors, supporting their professional development.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support program operations and client care.

• Substance Abuse Counseling Certification (or AOD Registration) from a State of California Accredited Certifying Board is required unless the candidate holds a professional license.
• Prior experience working in a residential substance use disorder treatment program.
• Strong understanding of Drug Medi-Cal and Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) regulations and standards.
• Experience with evidence-based substance abuse treatment models and an understanding of treatment modalities is expected.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and maintain compliance with treatment program policies.
• Knowledge of community resources and services is preferred.
• Experience working with justice-impacted, unhoused, and at-risk populations is preferred.
