California Lottery (California State Lottery) is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Systems Engineer to lead storage, backup/data protection, cloud, and virtualization initiatives. This role is based in Sacramento and offers a hybrid telework schedule.

Under the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) Infrastructure Services IT Manager I, the Senior Infrastructure Systems Engineer:

• Designs, deploys, and manages large-scale storage, backup, and virtualization solutions.
• Secures data center resources and ensures proper channeling within the Lottery.
• Leads IT project management tasks and collaborates on other infrastructure domains as needed.
• Maintains operational excellence in system engineering and IT project management.

• Schedule: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., typical business hours; may require evenings, weekends, or holidays.
• Travel: Statewide overnight travel may be required.
• Other: May need to carry a Lottery‑issued cell phone and remain reachable outside normal hours.

• Extensive knowledge of Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy, patching).
• Proficiency managing VMware vSphere environments (ESXi, vCenter, VM provisioning).
• Hands‑on experience with hardware maintenance, RAID, firmware updates, and server lifecycle.
• Skill in Azure AD, Azure VMs, storage accounts, networking, and hybrid cloud.
• Experience with enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Veritas) and DR planning / testing.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint).
• Strong analytical troubleshooting across on‑prem, virtual, and cloud environments.
• Experience with Power Shell or similar scripting tools for automation.

Current Information Technology Specialist II exam. If your exam is expired, you must retake it to be eligible.
