Position Overview:

Siemens Mobility Rolling Stock is seeking a First Shift Light Rail Weld Production Supervisor to join our growing team! In this role, you will lead the Light Rain Weld team in driving continuous improvement in budget, safety, and schedule adherence using lean manufacturing principles. You'll guide our diverse teams in solving technical challenges related to standard and non-standard work, tooling, material flow, safety, engineering drawings, BOMs, and process improvements on the production floor and during planning phases.

What

your day-to-day will look like:
  • Plan and prioritize production operations, workflow, and sequencing to meet project and departmental goals.
  • Achieve targets for safety, quality, schedule, and labor hours.
  • Manage manpower, equipment planning, and work‑order sequencing to align with production demands.
  • Conduct bi‑annual performance reviews and oversee employee training and development.
  • Ensure readiness for inspections and minimize defects by addressing root causes.
  • Review engineering drawings and 3D models to understand manufacturing requirements.
  • Optimize material flow and logistics for production work orders in MRP systems and on the floor.
  • Lead manufacturing improvements, process changes, and technological advancements to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Provide essential process control guidance to production, maintenance, and quality teams to enhance dimensional accuracy and overall product quality.
  • Coordinate and communicate technical information across all organizational levels, including vendors, project managers, production teams, and operations managers.
To thrive in this role, you have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience in a related area.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes including mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, welding, crane lifting, material handling.
  • 5+ years’ experience in OEM capital equipment assembly operations, in a schedule driven, moderate volume and product mix, engineer to order, project environment.
We would be impressed if you had:
  • Experience with Siemens Production System or similar Lean manufacturing.
  • Rail industry experience, ideally in light or heavy rail production.
  • Certification(s) in Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean, OSHA Safety, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Management, EIT, or Professional Engineering License.
  • Expertise in lean methods like 5S, root cause analysis, Kanban, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Proven ability to train and facilitate Lean improvement activities, including Kaizen and 5S events.

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

This position is located in Sacramento, CA. The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $117,912 per year and the annual incentive target is 5% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
