Production Supervisor - Coach Final Assembly- 1st shift

Pioneering in America, from the first mile to the last. This is what drives us!

For more than 160 years, Siemens has been an integral provider of infrastructure, electrification, and transportation solutions in the United States. Automation’s impact on the railway industry is second only to the effects of digitalization. Combine them and the results are transformative! We work at the leading edge of this movement, applying our proven expertise in digitalization to rail infrastructure and automation.

Our innovative solutions deliver greater safety, punctuality, reliability, and sustainability across the line, all while reducing costs for mass transit and freight transportation systems. We are continuously developing new answers for rail automation – often to questions that haven’t been asked yet.

Position Overview:

Our continued growth has created an exciting opportunity for a Production Supervisor in our Coach Final Assembly department. In this critical role, you’ll play a key part in driving success within our high‑performing production organization. You will lead and mentor a talented, diverse team of Assemblers, ensuring quality, efficiency, and collaboration on the production floor.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a hands‑on environment—someone who leads by example, inspires their team, and fosters a culture where everyone can succeed. If you’re passionate about leadership and operational excellence, this is the role for you!

What you will be doing:

  • Plan production operations, define workflow, and establish priorities and production sequences to meet project and interdepartmental requirements.
  • Meet project targets for safety, quality, schedule, and direct labor hours.
  • Establish, monitor, and adjust manpower (includes hiring and promoting), applicable equipment planning and work‑order sequencing to meet production demands.
  • Facilitate positive communication with entire team on a regular basis to keep them informed of work status, department performance, process changes, and company policies.
  • Conduct bi‑annual employee performance reviews including planning, monitoring, and documenting the training & development of manufacturing employees.
  • Ensure production vehicles are ready for in‑process inspections from internal and external customer inspectors in the Final Assembly Production area in advance of shipping vehicles.
  • Minimize defect write‑ups and findings through the systematic elimination of root causes while driving solutions to be implemented in the upstream processes.
  • Drive all areas and functions to support the preparedness and readiness for vehicles to ship.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Manufacturing, or Engineering or a combination of experience and education.
  • 5+ years of experience in planning and launching new production lines in low‑speed environments such as rail, aviation/aerospace, naval, and heavy equipment.
  • Proven experience in the rail industry, with a focus on light or heavy rail production.
  • Proficient in SAP or similar MRP/ERP systems.
  • Possession of relevant certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Certification, OSHA Safety, Certified Manufacturing Engineer, Supply Management, EIT, or Professional Engineering License.
  • Hands‑on experience in customer service, maintenance, or aftermarket businesses within the rail industry.
  • Expertise in lean methods and tools, including 5S, 7 Types of Waste, root cause analysis, Yamazumi Methods, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, ABC‑XYZ Analysis, and Lean Shop Floor Management.
  • Experience in developing technology roadmaps for automation.
