The Sacramento Valley Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMASV) is the Sacramento Region’s professional marketing resource. We are a fun, eclectic, and accessible group made up of the Region’s leading marketing professionals. We are the only professional organization in the area that covers the complete spectrum of marketing practices.
For over 30 years, we’ve cultivated a dynamic group of more than 200 members, including top marketing leaders such as VPs, CMOs, and agency heads, alongside influential voices and opinion leaders in the region. We provide numerous special events and sessions focused on improving your business and career goals.
Role DescriptionThe Director of Social Media is a part-time, hybrid, volunteer board role responsible for executing AMASV’s social media presence and supporting the promotion of AMASV events, membership value, sponsor highlights, marketing news, and community programming.
This role is ideal for a creative, detail-oriented marketer who loves building community, creating engaging content, and helping a local organization grow its reach and influence.
The Director of Social Media reports to the VP of Communications and collaborates closely with the Communications committee team (Website, Email Marketing, and other volunteer leaders) to ensure consistent brand voice and timely campaign execution.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a consistent social media presence across AMASV platforms, including (but not limited to):
Facebook, Linked In, Instagram.
- Event promotion and reminders
- Programming highlights and speaker spotlights
- Membership and sponsorship benefits
- Local marketing news and insights
- Community partnerships and volunteer opportunities
- Job postings and career advancement content
Work closely with Programming and VP of Communications to support event attendance goals through social campaigns, countdowns, recap content, and engagement posts.
Brand Voice & ConsistencyEnsure AMASV’s brand voice is represented consistently through tone, design style, messaging, and community engagement.
Community EngagementRespond to comments and messages as appropriate, engage with members and partners, and help grow follower count and engagement over time.
Reporting & Performance TrackingTrack basic performance indicators (follower growth, engagement rate, top-performing posts) and provide updates during board meetings or communications check-ins.
Ideal Candidate- Creative and comfortable writing for different audiences
- Technologically savvy and adaptable
- Familiar with social media best practices (especially Linked In + Instagram)
- Able to execute consistently and meet deadlines
- Comfortable collaborating with a volunteer team
- Excited about supporting professional development and community growth in Sacramento
Average time required: 1–4 hours per week
Board Member Responsibilities (All Volunteer Leaders)- Attend 8+ Board meetings during the Chapter Year (July–June)
- Attend the majority of AMASV in-person events (luncheons, webinars, mixers, etc.)
