Job Responsibilities

The Bilingual Alchemist Kitchen Program Coordinator’s primary role will be as an Alchemist Kitchen Incubator Program (AKIP) advisor with entrepreneurs in the program. AKIP provides customized one-on-one technical assistance and coaching. Incubated businesses work closely with Alchemist staff to develop their business skills, test their products, build assets, and create individualized benchmarks to ensure accountability and a progression plan toward graduation within 5 years.

This role will be the primary coach for about 15 entrepreneurs. This role will also work with Spanish speaking entrepreneurs and create or translate documents and materials into Spanish so AKIP can better serve Spanish-speaking program participants. AKIP advising will happen remotely via Zoom or at the physical Alchemist Kitchen (882 El Camino, Sacramento, CA 95818). The hours of these activities are flexible but may be dependent on the schedules and availability of AKIP participants.

The Alchemist Kitchen Program Coordinator will also support the AMA Program Coordinator to facilitate the Alchemist Microenterprise Academy (AMA) class. AMA is a 12-week training course covering the fundamentals of starting a food business and assisting participants in the development of a business plan. While to-date AMA has only been offered in English, Alchemist CDC is seeking to expand the AMA classes to serve Spanish speakers.

This position will evaluate the current AMA program and make the ultimate determination whether to incorporate predominately-Spanish speakers into the current form of AMA, with bilingual templates and assistance offered, or whether to create an entirely Spanish version of the program. They will also assist in the development of workshops and program related materials. The Program Coordinator will act as a community liaison to build relationships through networking and positive interactions with the public that will help increase awareness of the program and opportunities for AKIP participants.

They will also work to help create opportunities for community building within the programs.
