Volunteer with South Sacramento Christian Center Food Distribution

NOTE:
We will be CLOSED Saturday, November 29th, during the holiday weekend. All volunteers who have signed up for this day will be 'waitlisted' until our return on Saturday, December 6th.

South Sacramento Christian Center is still actively distributing food every Saturday, and we're seeking volunteers to help us prepare groceries. If you are interested in helping in any of the areas listed below, please look at the task descriptions and choose from any of the dates and times that work best for you. Be sure to leave your contact information so someone can respond to your inquiry.

Volunteer Responsibilities (Fridays)

• Assembling bags (or boxes) of groceries.
• Light lifting (up to 10 lbs).
• Cleanup (sweeping, cleaning/sanitizing frequently used areas).
• Recycling (cardboard boxes).
• Assist in any of the areas mentioned during your shift; flexibility preferred.

Volunteer Responsibilities (Saturday Morning)

• Control the flow of traffic in the drive‑thru.
• Put groceries in people's cars when they pull up.
• Make more grocery bags (or boxes).
• Resupply/runner (keep the drive‑thru stocked with inventory).

Community Service Assistance

Got community service? Yes, we can help you with that! Whether you are a student needing to complete hours for high school or college, or if it's a requirement from the County Sheriff's Office, and you meet our requirements, we may be able to help you. Please bring any/all paperwork needed when you volunteer. (Updated January 28, 2024)

Due to the stay-home orders being lifted, we no longer provide delivery service, and we are no longer recruiting delivery drivers (Updated 09/24/2022)

CAUTION!

We encourage you to please leave small children at home when you come to volunteer. During the giveaway, we have many moving parts and heavy equipment on the premises. Our age range for kids to volunteer is ages 12 years and up. (updated January 28, 2024)
