Job Summary
The Nurse Manager 1 is responsible for providing direct supervision for all clinical and support staff in their span of control, assure accountability/stewardship of university/department fiscal and staff resources in compliance with departmental goals and objectives. They manage and oversee all aspects of the unit, ensuring high standards of care, accessibility to care, while managing daily clinical operations. They provide leadership assuring timely, safe, effective, direct and indirect patient – family centered care throughout the continuum of surgical care.

- Five (5) years of operating room nursing experience.
- Two (2) years of nursing administrative, charge nurse, or supervisory experience.
- Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
- CNOR required within one year of hire.
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and a Master's degree in nursing or other related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree (in a field other than nursing) paired with a Master's of Science degree in Nursing is accepted.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately.
- Knowledge of current trends in nursing.

- Demonstrates accountability and professionalism at all times serving as a role model.

- Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentation.

- Advanced knowledge of pathophysiology and nursing process to provide clinical leadership within the Perioperative Division. Knowledge of professional standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements, policies and contracts and ability to ensure compliance.
- Sound assessment and decision making skills to respond quickly to changing patient care and staff needs.
- Ability to handle difficult, sensitive problems and situations in a timely, effective manner.
- Ability to problem solve with creative ideas.
- Experience in resource management and budgeting.
- Supervising in a union environment.
- Demonstrated project, process, or quality improvement experience.
- Two years Clinical and Supervisory Experience at Ambulatory or Same Day Surgery Center.
- Experience working in a Magnet Designated Hospital Setting.
- Proficiency in developing and updating unit policies and procedures to align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in performance evaluations, staff development, team collaboration, and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated experience managing daily operations of a nursing unit, or staff scheduling.
- Experience using the electronic medical record, EPIC preferred.
