Pediatric Trauma Program Manager – UC Davis Health

UC Davis Health is the only Level I adult and Level I pediatric trauma center in the Sacramento region, serving patients across a 65,000 square mile area. The Pediatric Trauma Program Manager (Peds/Pediatric TPM) works with the Pediatric Trauma Medical Director to evaluate and improve the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety program for pediatric trauma patients.

Job Summary

The Pediatric Trauma Program Manager directs and facilitates Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center verification, ensuring adherence to American College of Surgeons requirements and regional regulations. The role identifies and develops pediatric trauma‑specific standards, collaborates on trauma prevention, research, and education projects, and provides daily operational leadership for patient care areas. The TPM leads staff in a professional practice environment, supports research and strategic planning, and ensures patient advocacy.

Accountability is to the Nurse Manager 2 and Executive Director, Patient Care Services.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid California Registered Nurse License without restrictions
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
  • Current Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) Instructor Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Master's degree in nursing or related field
  • Pediatric trauma coordinator experience at a Level 1 pediatric trauma center
  • Ten (10) years of experience working in a pediatric trauma program at a Level 1 pediatric trauma center
  • Four (4) years of experience with a leadership role interacting with multiple departments across a healthcare center
  • Experience with at least two (2) pediatric Level 1 American College of Surgeons (ACS) Verification, Review, and Consultation (VRC) re‑verifications
  • Five (5) years of experience using Trauma One data registry
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge and proficiency in healthcare technology within specialty area
  • Expert ability to collaborate effectively with staff, management, and clinicians at all levels and across departments
  • Full command (verbal and written) of the English language
  • Ability to lead department‑wide process improvement projects or initiatives
