RN Lactation Consultant (CLIN NURSE
2) – UC Davis Health
This position is to serve as a Clinical Nurse (CN) who identifies and implements nursing interventions, evaluates results for diverse patient populations, and serves as a resource to the nursing team while promoting compliance and support for policies. The primary responsibilities include assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating comprehensive nursing plans of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction;
training and delegating duties; and adhering to University, federal, state, and local regulations.
Autonomous nursing care requires the nurse to assess and provide nursing actions appropriately for patient populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge, exercising independent judgment within interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches.

Minimum Qualifications- Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)/American Heart Association (AHA) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Completion of Fetal Monitoring Course
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- At least one (1) year of Labor and Delivery experience
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately.
- Knowledge of current trends in nursing.
- Commitment to excellence in patient care.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates accountability and professionalism.

- National Certification Corporation (NCC) Credential in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB)
- Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
- Certified Lactation Consultant from International Board of Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) completed
- BSN

The University Birthing Suites is a birthing center with facilities that can accommodate patients in various phases of observation, antepartum labor and delivery. The unit includes two operating rooms and two recovery rooms, permitting family access for instant bonding. A triage area is also available for evaluation of obstetric issues. The Women’s Pavilion is a 24-bed unit consisting of antepartum, postpartum as well as medical-surgical patients.
Both units have a normal newborn nursery; however, most infants remain in their mother’s room for family‑centered bonding after their initial assessment.
This position trains and works in the following clinical areas: D‑3 University Birthing Center, Labor‑Delivery Outpatient Tests, T‑3 Newborn Nursery, T‑3 Women’s Health Pavilion.
