Quality Manager – Mitsubishi Chemical America

Mitsubishi Chemical Carbon Fiber and Composites, Inc. is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the implementation and management of our Quality Management System (QMS) at the Sacramento Plant and Sacramento Warehouse.

Responsibilities
  • Implementation and management of the QMS (AS 9100/ISO 9001)
    • Implement, manage and maintain AS 9100/ISO 9001 certifications.
    • Analyze and report QMS effectiveness; provide objective proof of continuous improvement to management (Management Review).
    • Manage internal audit program and external Quality audits with 3rd parties; ensure alignment with corporate procurement.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable industry and customer standards and third‑party requirements.
    • Implement and maintain risk and opportunity program to improve the QMS.
    • Implement and maintain corrective action program; assist Customer Service, Sales, Shipping and Operations to support customer requirements.
    • Manage non‑conforming raw materials and finished products; decide acceptability; initiate corrective actions; oversee Material Discrepancy Review; update ERP system.
    • Ensure quality information in ERP is updated.
    • Provide routine feedback on inspection results to Operations Team.
    • Develop and maintain internal and raw‑material specifications; enter and maintain in ERP; manage customer Quality documents.
    • Sign CoC/CoA of finished products; manage concession letters.
    • Assist Sales & Operations with Design and MOC processes; ensure new product, specification, and testing methods conform with standards.
    • Implement and deliver QMS training.
  • Manage the QC Lab operations at the Sacramento site
    • Direct lab technicians to meet quality requirements.
    • Establish and maintain testing procedures and training.
    • Implement in‑process inspections.
    • Implement and maintain SPC and process capability information.
    • Improve lab processes and equipment.
    • Ensure ERP has inspection results with quality status.
    • Ensure safety and environmental requirements are met.
    • Ensure equipment calibration is current.
    • Provide feedback on non‑conforming inspection results to Operations and Management.
    • Enter precision cut fibers and external test results into ERP.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Exhibit exemplary conduct with all employees and external contacts; promote a positive, safe environment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by management.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations to ensure safe work environment.
  • Industry Knowledge & Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, quality management or a related technical field.
    • 10+ years’ experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance in a chemical or process manufacturing environment.
    • 5+ years’ supervisory experience.
    • Knowledge of quality management systems and standards, particularly ISO.
    • Prior knowledge and experience with AS 9100.
    • Knowledge of TS 16949 (automotive quality standard) is a plus.
    • Statistical process control methods and tools preferred.
    • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
    • Onsite role.
