Mortgage Field Services Inspector

FAR Inspections is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors enjoy predictable full‑time or supplemental income and a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; effective time management and meeting deadlines are essential.

Located in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has served the industry for over nine years.

What is an Occupancy Verification?

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition using a mobile application.

Responsibilities
  • Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
  • Finish each inspection within four days of assignment.
  • Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
  • Take nine or more photos of the property with brief comments.
  • Complete a short form in a mobile application.
  • Drive extensive distances, making multiple stops throughout the day within the assigned territory.
Requirements
  • Computer with an internet connection.
  • Reliable vehicle (good fuel efficiency preferred; you will pay your own gas).
  • Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
  • Printer.
  • Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours

This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Each inspection is paid at a flat rate that varies by county and volume, averaging $30–$40 per hour.

Depending on county and rural or urban setting, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties offer higher rates; higher volume counties offer lower rates. Volume is not fixed, but the work is consistent month to month. Earn more as you become established, increase your availability, or cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
