BAS Controls Technician – Sacramento, CA – Building Automation Service & Retrofit – $45–$62/hr + OT + Vehicle About the Opportunity
A respected Building Automation and HVAC Controls integrator is seeking a
BAS Controls Technician to support service, retrofit, and small project work across the Sacramento and Northern California region. This role is well-suited for a technician who thrives in customer-facing environments, enjoys diagnosing system issues, and has a strong background inmodern DDC/BAS platforms.
You will work on a wide variety of existing BAS systems in commercial buildings, healthcare facilities,government complexes, education campuses, and industrial environments throughout the Sacramento Valley.

- Employment Type: Full-Time
- Hourly Rate: $45.00 – $62.00/hr (DOE)

The BAS Controls Technician will perform service diagnostics, system repairs, retro-commissioning, upgrades, andsmall project implementations on a variety of BAS/DDC systems. This is a technical, hands-on role that requires problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in the field.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose issues with BAS/DDC hardware, field devices, and communication networks
- Perform service calls, system tune-ups, and emergency troubleshooting
- Upgrade legacy BAS systems and assist with retrofit integrations
- Load, adjust, or update BAS programs, graphics, and trend logs
- Conduct functional testing, verification, and performance optimization
- Replace or install field devices including sensors, actuators, valves, and controllers
- Maintain detailed service reports and provide clear communication to customers
- Collaborate with internal project managers and service coordinators
- Background working as a
BAS Technician, Service Tech, Controls Installer, or HVAC Controls Specialist - Strong troubleshooting skills for BAS networks, devices, and control sequences
- Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, or LON communication protocols
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical plans, and control schematics
- Strong customer service and communication abilities
- Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record
- Experience servicing systems such as Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls, Distech, Siemens, or Alerton
- Familiarity with campus-wide or enterprise-level BAS architectures
- Retrofit or upgrade experience in existing commercial buildings
- Exposure to chilled water, boilers, VAV systems, and air-handling unit controls
