Posting Details- Salary: $45,621 – $54,975
- Geographical stipend: 5% base salary
- Hiring bonus: $5,000
- $2,500 upon completion of Correctional Officer Training Academy (COTA)
- $2,500 after 6 months of full‑time employment
- Candidates with no experience receive a $1,427.92 salary increase upon graduation from COTA
- Grade: CO1
We are actively seeking talented individuals for Correctional Officer positions at our Safford (Safford, AZ) facility. Applicants who successfully complete our selection process will attend and complete the thirteen‑week Correctional Officer Training Academy (COTA) at ASPC – Safford. Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion in Correctional Technology, equivalent to 21 college credit hours, and begin a required 12‑month probationary period.
Job Duties- Ensure the security of the inmate population within the facility’s perimeter
- Provide supervision and guidance to inmates
- Conduct thorough pat and strip searches to maintain safety
- Effectively de‑escalate situations
- Initiate and complete reports accurately and promptly
- Fulfill all assigned post duties diligently
- Respond promptly to emergency situations as required
As a Correctional Officer, you will need a unique set of knowledge and skills to effectively carry out your responsibilities:
- Communication and Interpersonal
Skills:
Uphold high standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism. Adhere to the code of conduct, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate impartiality in decision‑making. - Physical Fitness and Stamina: The role may involve standing for extended periods, performing searches, restraining individuals, and responding to emergency situations.
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Hold a valid Driver’s License
- Have no felony convictions
- Provide proof of legal U.S. residency
- Pass a background investigation and E‑Verify
- Undergo a tuberculosis (TB) test during orientation and annually thereafter
- Vacation and sick days with 10 paid holidays per year
