Assistant Site Manager – Residential House building

Location: Saffron Walden, CB10
Project: 58-Unit Residential Housing Development
Salary: Competitive + Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits (DOE)

We are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established residential house builder for an Assistant Site Manager to join a flagship 58-unit housing development in Saffron Walden (CB10).

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious construction professional looking to develop their career with a reputable developer delivering high‑quality new homes. You will work closely with the Site Manager to ensure the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

• Assist the Site Manager with the day‑to‑day running of the housing development.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, and workmanship.
• Ensure all works are completed in line with programme requirements and quality standards.
• Maintain high levels of health, safety, and environmental compliance across the site.
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks.
• Coordinate material deliveries and site logistics.
• Assist in managing NHBC inspections and ensuring compliance with current building regulations.
• Support the management of customer care and defect resolution during the build process.
• Chair and participate in subcontractor briefings and toolbox talks where required.
• Maintain accurate site records, reports, and progress updates.
• Assist with site inductions and workforce management.

• Previous experience as an Assistant Site Manager, Finishing Foreman, Site Supervisor, or similar role within house building.
• Experience working on volume residential developments.
• Strong understanding of construction processes and sequencing.
• Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and site management procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and the wider project team.
• Organised, proactive, and able to work in a fast‑paced construction environment.
• Computer literate with experience using construction management systems.

• SMSTS or SSSTS
• CSCS Card
• First Aid at Work Certificate
• Full UK Driving Licence

• NHBC experience
• Timber frame and traditional build experience
• Relevant construction qualification (HNC, HND, NVQ or Degree)

• Basic plus car allowance up to £52k
