About the Role
Platform Recruitment has partnered with a high‑tech engineering company specialising in the development of precision opto‑mechanical products, and they are seeking a Development Engineer to join their innovative R&D team. The company develops advanced products for multiple industries, offering solutions that range from precision opto‑mechanical assemblies to industrial and scientific applications.
Industry: Opto‑Mechanical Products
Location: Suffolk
Salary: £30,000-£33,000
- Develop opto‑mechanical products
- Conduct optical, mechanical, and environmental testing
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation
- Design and build jigs, fixtures, & manufacturing setups
- Undertake engineering changes and support product transfer to production
- Work with suppliers to source components and ensure manufacturing feasibility
- Degree in Physics, Photonics or Mechanical Engineering
- Proficient in 3D CAD design software
- Basic understanding of optical principles
- Hands‑on & practical skillset building and testing prototypes
- Experience in precision design and assembly
- Understanding of material properties, tolerances, & stress analysis
