Electronics Prototype Technician

Polytec is seeking an Electronics Prototype Technician to join our client based near Saffron Walden. This is a hands‑on role focused on RF and general PCB prototyping, surface‑mount assembly, wiring and electronics fault‑finding within a busy R&D environment.

UK Security Clearance will be required for this role; therefore applicants requiring visas will unfortunately not be eligible.

• Electronics assembly to IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards
• Hand soldering of fine‑pitch SMD components (including 0603 and 0402)
• PCB modification, rework and prototype build from schematics and drawings
• Detailed wiring and general electronics assembly
• Accurate recording and maintenance of build and test documentation
• Supporting day‑to‑day operation of an R&D laboratory

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an electronics lab or assembly environment
• Proven ability to work independently on complex prototype builds
• Experience collaborating closely with engineers as part of project teams
• Good IT skills for documentation and record‑keeping
• Mechanical assembly experience is advantageous
• Flexible, proactive approach with a willingness to learn new skills

Salary: up to £43000 depending on experience
