This is a hands-on quality role within a technical manufacturing environment, working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to ensure products consistently meet customer, regulatory and company requirements.
The Role As a Quality Technician, you will be responsible for supporting inspection, testing and quality assurance activities throughout the manufacturing process. You will carry out inspections, measurements and testing, identify and manage non-conforming products, and provide accurate quality data to support investigations and continuous improvement.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment who enjoys hands-on quality activities and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out incoming, in-process and final inspections to ensure products meet defined requirements.
Verify products against engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions and inspection plans.
Perform product testing and measurement activities using approved equipment and methods.
Conduct first-off inspections, First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and verification checks.
Identify, segregate and control non-conforming products in line with company procedures.
Raise and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), supporting investigations and corrective actions.
Complete re-inspection and verification activities following rework or repair.
Maintain accurate inspection records, test results and quality documentation.
Support root cause investigations by providing inspection data and product history information.
Monitor recurring defects and quality trends, escalating concerns where appropriate.
Assist with calibration activities and ensure inspection equipment remains fit for purpose.
Support internal audits, process reviews and continuous improvement activities.
Work collaboratively with Production and Engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve performance.
Promote compliance with customer requirements, company procedures and quality standards.
Key
Experience:
Previous experience in a quality, inspection, manufacturing or engineering role.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Experience using measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving.
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Competent in maintaining accurate records and quality documentation.
A proactive attitude with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Desirable:
Experience with in manufacturing, electronics, rail, aerospace or another regulated industry.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) activities.
Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
Familiarity with ERP or quality management systems.
Internal auditing experience or qualification.
