Construction Services Technician at Spicer Group

This is a full-time Construction Services Technician position in the Construction Services Group with office locations in Saginaw, St. Johns, East Lansing, Dundee, and Bingham Farms.

• Act as client, contractor, and project manager liaison for the construction of municipal and MDOT infrastructure projects.
• Observe construction work in progress to ensure conformance with specifications; examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards; and maintain detailed records of work performed by contractors.
• Communicate directly with clients and owners, hold and attend meetings, review shop drawings, perform quantity take‑offs, and generate preliminary estimates of cost.
• Perform office technician duties such as reviewing certified payrolls, reviewing IDRs for compliance with standards, generating pay estimates and contract modifications.
• Familiarity with MDOT specifications, standard plans, and work practice is preferred.
• Conduct material testing related to: HMA sampling, concrete sampling and testing, aggregate sampling, mechanical testing of aggregates, and compaction testing for granular, aggregate, clay, and HMA materials.

• High school diploma.
• Construction inspection experience, preferably in the areas of municipal infrastructure, MDOT road, and bridge construction.
• Valid driver’s license.
