Position: Dentist (Regular Ft)
Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200
-000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Duties
  • VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package
  • Duties include but are not limited to:
    Functions under the general direction of the Chief - Dental Service
  • The Staff Dentist independently examines - diagnoses - and treats the commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems - requiring opinion or intervention - in the outpatient and inpatient settings - including emergent evaluations
  • Occasionally - he/she independently treats patients having dental health problems of greater than usual difficulty
  • Obtains patient's history - records oral conditions and patient's complaints - and records progress
  • In accordance with specific instruction - performs record keeping - records patient's medical and dental history and use of medications - prepares and records patient’s treatment plans
  • Performing oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity - and diagnosis of pathological or irregular conditions
  • Treating oral mucosal and gingival infections
  • Administering local anesthesia
  • Performing single and relatively uncomplicated multiple extractions of teeth
  • To the extent of ability and experience - the staff dentist may perform difficult oral surgery such as extraction of an impacted tooth or perform alveolectomy in connection with fitting of a denture or other appliance
  • Participates in Dental Service Staff meetings and Process Improvement activities
  • Assist and management of community care treatment reviews and authorizations
  • Work Schedule:

    Tour is 4 days per week - 730am - 6pm
