Paraprofessional; Special Education - ASD; Arrowwood

Position Summary

We are seeking a full-time Paraprofessional to work with students who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a special education setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with ASD and a passion for helping them reach their full potential.

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with ASD
• Provide one‑on‑one support to students with ASD, including assistance with academic tasks, social skills, and behavior management
• Collaborate with the classroom teacher and other members of the special education team to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting students with ASD
• Collect data on student progress and behavior, and communicate this information to the classroom teacher and other members of the special education team
• Assist with classroom management, including setting up materials and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
• Provide support during transitions between activities and classes
• Assist with personal care tasks, such as toileting and feeding, as needed

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred
• Experience working with students with ASD in a special education setting
• Knowledge of evidence‑based practices for supporting students with ASD, including strategies for behavior management and social skills development
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals, including classroom teachers, therapists, and other paraprofessionals
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
• Physical ability to assist with personal care tasks, such as lifting and positioning students as needed

An additional $0.80/hour for achieving 60 or more semester credit hours (college). Standard benefit package available. This position is part of the State of Michigan Public School Employee Retirement System (MPSERS).
