Summary
Saginaw Township Community Schools district serves approximately 4,400 students (K-12). Recent curricular enhancements include the implementation of Units of Study for Language Arts, Reveal Math, STEM-based science programs, and a comprehensive Multi-Tiered Systems of Support framework.
Hemmeter Elementary is the gifted and talented magnet school in Saginaw Township Community Schools. It serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Hemmeter is a Blue Ribbon Award winning school and recently was named one of the best "Michigan Elementary Schools" by U.S. News and World Report.
We are seeking dedicated teachers who are passionate about fostering the growth and development of elementary school students, with a particular focus on gifted and talented education. Candidates should be committed to teaching the whole child, adapting instruction to maximize student learning outcomes. Essential qualifications include expertise in classroom management, a deep understanding of best practices in language arts, math, science, and social studies, and the ability to meet the unique needs of gifted and talented students.
Proficiency in administering and utilizing a variety of performance assessments is also required. Regular in-person attendance is essential.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the school curriculum and state standards
- Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and student participation
- Must possess knowledge and understanding of elementary school classroom management and organization, current best practices in the areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies teaching and learning
- Knowledge and experience administering and using a variety of performance assessment tools
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to plan and coordinate school-wide events and activities
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and behavior
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and any concerns
- Knowledge and experience administering and using a variety of performance assessments
- Regular in-person attendance required
- Valid Michigan Elementary teaching certificate
- May consider applicants who are willing to commit to obtaining certification
- Strong knowledge of subject matter and teaching techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success
- Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching in an elementary school setting
Based on STEA CBA for the School year, compensation starts at $46,041 Bachelors Degree, no previous experience; $53,882 Master Degree, no previous experience.

Pursuant to Public Act 68 of 1993 and Public Act 83 of 1995, selected new employees shall submit to fingerprints and a criminal background check at the employee's expense.
