JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring that all maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities meet stringent regulatory, safety, and quality standards set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other applicable aviation authorities. The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust quality management system (QMS) to guarantee compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturer requirements, and industry best practices.

This position works closely with various departments, including maintenance, operations, and safety, to ensure that repairs, modifications, and inspections are conducted with the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The Quality Engineer also conducts audits, monitors processes, and investigates any non‑conformance issues to continuously improve the quality control system within the repair station.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and revise Quality systems and procedures as directed by management to ensure documentation is compliant to current practices.
  • Ensure compliance to customer, ISO/AS9110 and AS9100, FAA regulatory requirements are met.
  • Conduct Government, Customer, and FAA requested audits and investigations and report on corrective action steps taken to prevent recurrences when necessary.
  • Gather and analyze performance data (scrap, rejections, defects, rework) to aid in the development of process improvement projects. As needed, coordinate across other production and functional areas to ensure maximum quality and efficiencies are achieved.
  • Conduct process or product-based audits in production or functional areas.
  • Perform initial investigation of all customer warranty claims.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Engineering or related STEM degree required.
  • In lieu of degree, Aviation, Business, or related technical degree and 5 years of Quality aviation experience required OR related aviation technology associates degree or A&P license, and 5 years of Quality aviation experience required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Thorough knowledge of surface treatments, stripping, blasting, machining, grinding, welding, shot peening, heat treatments, blending, bonding and NDT as it relates to component repair & overhaul.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter and understands the need for working with a sense of urgency.
  • Able to work with and lead teams.
  • Professional and diplomatic demeanor.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with conducting internal or external audits.
  • Knowledge of AS9100/9110 and ISO
    9001 Standards.
  • Familiar with NADCAP and Special Processing.
  • ASQ Quality Certifications, preferred.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with the use of tools such as PFMEA, 6 Sigma, Lean Principles, and statistical techniques.
