We are seeking a dynamic Controls Engineer to support manufacturing quality and efficiency. The role involves troubleshooting equipment, analyzing data, and driving cost‑effective solutions for continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do- Provide engineering support for high automated assembly processes.
- Identify/implement cost reduction programs for capital expenditures.
- Utilize data such as downtime, scrap, efficiencies, etc. to plan and strategize countermeasures for equipment and process problems.
- Analyze and interpret data to make rational decisions when troubleshooting equipment issues, and organize those thoughts into a detailed plan, incorporating peers, and executing the plan to a conclusion.
- Help the company grow by being a proactive participant in the APQP/Gemba process.
- Maintain/update electrical drawings.
- Support manufacturing:
- Training of operators/maintenance personnel
- Troubleshooting equipment
- Setup / work area design
- Ergonomics/safety
- Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
- Exemplary verbal/written communication skills.
- Well organized with meticulous attention to detail.
- Able to organize, assemble and guide a team to accomplish tasks.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, or Associate Technical Degree in Robotic Automation/Computer Sciences.
- 8 years of on‑the‑job experience in controls, primarily focused on machine design / machine build.
- Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics / prints and how these systems interact.
- Ability to adapt to / learn new controls technology and software.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to effectively communicate with others in everyday and high‑stress situations.
- Understanding and communicating technical details.
- Knowledge of multi‑axis servo systems.
- Hands‑on robotics knowledge (startup, shutdown, teaching).
- Industrial vision systems / sensors (Cognex, Keyence).
- Basic networking knowledge and application.
- Fieldbus Technologies (ex: Ethernet/IP, Ether CAT, I/O Link, Modbus).
- Interfacing and communication with devices; analog, fieldbus, etc.
- Software Expertise:
- AutoCAD (electrical/pneumatic detailing)
- Rockwell Suite (Studio 5000, Factory Talk, RSLogix)
- MS Office Suite
- Work may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending and stooping.
- Usage of a computer and other office machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and printer.
- Excellent vision and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Strong hand‑eye coordination.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing and office environment.
- Must be able to work necessary overtime if required.
