Employment Type: Full Time Position, Non-Exempt, Hourly
Schedule: 8 am – 5 pm, with flexible hours and occasional overtime. Remote/ onsite travel expected.

Job Summary: As a Product Technician, you will play a pivotal role in developing and supporting new products, design updates, and novel applications for Duperon’s water screening equipment. Collaborating with the Product Engineering Team and Skunk Works, you’ll design, test, and implement innovative solutions in the field that meet customer needs and align with our commitment to simplicity and reliability. This role requires creativity, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
EssentialDuties
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and operations teams to support the development of new products, components, and applications for water treatment solutions.
- Conduct physical and laboratory testing at Duperon’s Saginaw facility or customer sites (e.g., wastewater treatment plants) to validate designs and ensure performance.
- Document processes, designs, and test results in accordance with company protocols.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to secure materials and services, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Perform performance calculations, develop testing protocols, specifications, manuals, and instructions for new products or applications.
- Support product launches by establishing repeatable processes and application parameters.
- Install, service, test, and troubleshoot products in the field, requiring frequent travel.
- Uphold Duperon’s commitment to leaving customers feeling valued by fostering transparent and collaborative relationships throughout the development process.
Field reports must be completed within 3 business days after a trip, and expense reports are due by the 15th of each month. While critical issues may need immediate resolution on site, follow‑up is required to ensure corrective action has been taken to eliminate future problems.
QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma required; B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Environmental, or related) or equivalent work experience preferred.
Experience- Required:
4+ years working with mechanical/electrical controls and process monitoring equipment. - Preferred:
Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes (e.g., equipment startup, repair, or operations). - Required:
2+ years fabricating components, bringing concepts to life.
- Required:
Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and resolving complex mechanical engineering challenges. - Required:
Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Required:
Proven problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and project‑management skills. - Required:
Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively with customers, engineers, industry partners, and cross‑functional teams. - Required:
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment. - Required:
Experience using hand tools, drill press, cut‑off saws, welders, etc. - Preferred:
Experience with troubleshooting electrical controls. - Preferred:
Familiarity with wastewater industry organizations (e.g., WWEMA, MWEA). - Preferred:
Experience working in a small business or startup.
- Able to pass pre‑employment physical and drug screen.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record for travel to customer sites.
- Ability to drive a forklift and obtain a license.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work in confined spaces, climb ladders and stairs, and walk long distances while standing, squatting, or kneeling for extended periods, especially on machines.
- Must be comfortable working in all types of climates, indoors and outdoors; exposure to wastewater plant conditions and odors is expected.
- Able to travel to customers’ sites approximately 50% of the time, including multiple overnight stays.
