This position performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging including a variety of procedures (invasive and non‑invasive) such as biopsies, routine OB/GYN, limited vascular, abdominal, small body parts, intra‑cavity, and color Doppler studies. The technologist must have strong critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to problem‑solve while ensuring the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients. Effective communication, ability to comprehend and follow physicians’ verbal orders and imaging protocols, and the capacity to multitask in inpatient, emergency, and outpatient settings are essential.

The Ultrasound Technologist also obtains patient identity, history, reviews medical records for appropriateness of the exam or procedure, and maintains documentation accuracy. The role requires adherence to medical ethics, continual self‑motivation for lifelong learning, and a commitment to excellent customer service.

• (60%) Produces quality images by selecting appropriate technical factors, equipment and transducer settings; verifies patient orders, obtains history, explains procedures and addresses patient concerns to ensure comfort and confidence.
• (20%) Operates sonographic equipment independently, performs and communicates findings of diagnostic examinations, manages daily department operations, patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, logs equipment failures, and conducts quality assessment (QA).
• (20%) Maintains appropriate sterilization techniques, documents logs and records accurately in both paper and electronic formats, and complies with The Joint Commission, federal, state, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
• Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes information with medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
• Provides ultrasound guidance for biopsies/aspirations, prepares equipment and supplies, observes sterile techniques, and assists physicians as needed.
• Ensures patient safety, mental and physical comfort during ultrasound care; delivers quality patient care with universal precautions, patient confidentiality, and appropriate medical ethics.
• Communicates orally, in writing, and by telephone with staff, physicians, and patients.
• Maintains a clean work environment and adequate supplies.
• Provides excellent customer service and demonstrates professionalism and courtesy at all times.
• Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental and hospital goals; attends departmental and medical center meetings.
• Performs additional duties as needed, including assisting in other areas of the department and providing department‑specific on‑call related duties during days, evenings, and weekends as assigned.
• Flexible to work long shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays; may be required to alternate shifts.
• Required to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows.

  ULTRA C I - ARDMS-RVT OR CCI-RVS, Registered or registry‑eligible in Vascular Ultrasound (RVT)
• Preferred Equivalent Experience – Registered or eligible: ARDMS AB – Abdominal Ultrasound Tech
• Required:
  
  Active certifications by the ARDMS in Abdomen or OB/GYN specialties within one year of hire for general ultrasound imaging roles.

• Technical Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or equivalent clinical diagnostic setting experience.
• One year of work experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

• Registry‑eligible new graduates may apply.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with individuals and groups at all levels.
• Mandatory OSHA training annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
